Sphingolipids in plant immunity

چکیده

Abstract Sphingolipids (lipids with a sphingoid base backbone) are important components of eukaryotic membrane systems and key signaling molecules that essential for controlling cellular homeostasis, acclimating to stress, regulating plant immunity. Studies using sphingolipid treatments, measuring sphingolipids in infected plants, functionally studying biosynthetic mutants demonstrated participate cell death defense responses. In this review, we present an updated map review recent progress understanding the functions immunity as structural biological membranes, mediators signaling. Moreover, several pressing questions, such how plasma membrane, particularly microdomains, act perceive pathogens transduce signals during plant–pathogen interactions, remain be further explored future research.

Role of Sphingolipids in Infant Gut Health and Immunity.

Sphingomyelin (SM), glycosphingolipids, and gangliosides are important polar lipids in the milk fat globule membrane but are not found in standard milk replacement formulas. Because digestion and absorption of SM and glycosphingolipids generate the bioactive metabolites ceramide, sphingosine, and sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P), and because intact gangliosides may have beneficial effects in the g...

Plant sphingolipids: Their importance in cellular organization and adaption☆

Sphingolipids and their phosphorylated derivatives are ubiquitous bio-active components of cells. They are structural elements in the lipid bilayer and contribute to the dynamic nature of the membrane. They have been implicated in many cellular processes in yeast and animal cells, including aspects of signaling, apoptosis, and senescence. Although sphingolipids have a better defined role in ani...

Plant immunity in plant–aphid interactions

Aphids are economically important pests that cause extensive feeding damage and transmit viruses. While some species have a broad host range and cause damage to a variety of crops, others are restricted to only closely related plant species. While probing and feeding aphids secrete saliva, containing effectors, into their hosts to manipulate host cell processes and promote infestation. Aphid ef...

Membrane Trafficking in Plant Immunity.

Plants employ sophisticated mechanisms to interact with pathogenic as well as beneficial microbes. Of those, membrane trafficking is key in establishing a rapid and precise response. Upon interaction with pathogenic microbes, surface-localized immune receptors undergo endocytosis for signal transduction and activity regulation while cell wall components, antimicrobial compounds, and defense pro...

Alternative Splicing in Plant Immunity

Alternative splicing (AS) occurs widely in plants and can provide the main source of transcriptome and proteome diversity in an organism. AS functions in a range of physiological processes, including plant disease resistance, but its biological roles and functional mechanisms remain poorly understood. Many plant disease resistance (R) genes undergo AS, and several R genes require alternatively ...
